00:00:01 00:00:03 My name is Catherine Meyerle.
00:00:03 00:00:05 I am a medical retinal specialist.
00:00:05 00:00:08 At Johns Hopkins, I am a clinician and
00:00:08 00:00:13 a researcher with a special interest in retinal diseases
00:00:13 00:00:17 such as age-related macular degeneration, retinal vascular
00:00:17 00:00:21 occlusion, and central serous chorioretinopathy.
00:00:21 00:00:25 While retina has traditionally been a surgical field,
00:00:25 00:00:29 recent scientific advances have made medical treatments more
00:00:29 00:00:31 readily available.
00:00:31 00:00:35 I chose medical retina because I value the opportunity
00:00:35 00:00:39 to maximize patients' vision through nonsurgical options,
00:00:39 00:00:44 relying on pharmaceutical and even nutritional options.
00:00:44 00:00:48 My research focuses on novel imaging techniques and
00:00:48 00:00:52 treatment strategies to improve retinal health.
00:00:52 00:00:56 The patient-doctor relationship is unique.
00:00:56 00:00:59 Through communication and understanding,
00:00:59 00:01:00 care is optimized.
00:01:00 00:01:03 I believe in forming a partnership with all of
00:01:03 00:01:07 my patients to help them achieve their maximal visual potential.
00:01:07 00:01:11 I look forward to working with you at Johns Hopkins'
00:01:11 00:01:14 Wilmer Eye Institute and our satellite locations.
