00:00:02 |
Hey, guys, it's A.G.
|
| 00:00:02 |
00:00:05 |
and today we're going to have an early review
of Hellboy 2: The Golden Army. |
| 00:00:05 |
00:00:07 |
I just back from the
Los Angeles Film Festival |
| 00:00:07 |
00:00:12 |
and I got to go to a premier of Hellboy 2
at the Regent theater in Los Angeles. |
| 00:00:12 |
00:00:15 |
Now, this was part of the whole film festival,
it was for the closing night and everything, |
| 00:00:16 |
00:00:19 |
so there was an after party and everything
for this movie, which was pretty awsome, |
| 00:00:19 |
00:00:22 |
so I got to be there to review that
for Latin Heat, |
| 00:00:23 |
00:00:26 |
and I'm going to give you guys a sneak peek review
of Hellboy 2: The Golden Army, |
| 00:00:27 |
00:00:28 |
which doesn't come out till July 11th.
|
| 00:00:29 |
00:00:30 |
So, let's get on with it, shall we?
|
| 00:00:43 |
00:00:46 |
Basically, we learn about a battle that took place
long ago between humans and creatures. |
| 00:00:46 |
00:00:49 |
The king of the elves was ashamed
that his golden army, |
| 00:00:49 |
00:00:51 |
an unstoppable collection
of golden warriors, |
| 00:00:51 |
00:00:54 |
killed as many humans as they did,
so a truce was made. |
| 00:00:54 |
00:00:59 |
Prince Nuada, who never trusted humans,
didn't like this truce, and went to exile. |
| 00:00:59 |
00:01:02 |
The crown that controlled this Golden Army
was split into three pieces: |
| 00:01:03 |
00:01:04 |
One held by the king,
|
| 00:01:04 |
00:01:06 |
his daughter, Princess Nuala,
|
| 00:01:06 |
00:01:07 |
and one by the humans.
|
| 00:01:08 |
00:01:11 |
Years later, guess who returned
searching for those crown pieces... |
| 00:01:12 |
00:01:14 |
"A piece from a long-lost culture."
|
| 00:01:16 |
00:01:19 |
"Lost? Not at all.
Very much alive. |
| 00:01:20 |
00:01:23 |
And I'm here to reclaim
what is rightfully mine." |
| 00:01:23 |
00:01:25 |
"Call security!"
|
| 00:01:31 |
00:01:33 |
From this point on,
humans are in big trouble. |
| 00:01:34 |
00:01:37 |
That's when the Bureau of
Paranormal Research and Defense steps in, |
| 00:01:37 |
00:01:41 |
led by hellboy, his girlfriend, Liz,
who he's been having relationship problems with, |
| 00:01:41 |
00:01:43 |
and their brainiac partner, Abraham Sapien.
|
| 00:01:44 |
00:01:48 |
Of course, they get themselves into
more problematic situations than they expected. |
| 00:01:49 |
00:01:53 |
"We have no survivors."
"Same story here, babe." "Don't call me babe." |
| 00:01:54 |
00:01:58 |
"Hey! I said, Hey."
"Red, we have company." |
| 00:02:06 |
00:02:08 |
This is basically another movie battle
between good and evil, |
| 00:02:09 |
00:02:10 |
but it's done well enough to make it enjoyable.
|
| 00:02:11 |
00:02:13 |
Hellboy struggles with his relationship with Liz
|
| 00:02:13 |
00:02:15 |
and his personal struggles
of wanting acceptance with humans. |
| 00:02:16 |
00:02:18 |
Prince Nuada tries to lure Hellboy to help him out
|
| 00:02:18 |
00:02:21 |
since, Prince Nuada explains,
humans fear him anyway. |
| 00:02:22 |
00:02:24 |
So he continues to do that throughout the movie.
|
| 00:02:25 |
00:02:26 |
There are also many surprisingly funny
comedic parts, too, |
| 00:02:27 |
00:02:31 |
especially when a new partner of the BPRD
joins the fight. |
| 00:02:32 |
00:02:34 |
The visual effects are the best part
of this movie, though. |
| 00:02:35 |
00:02:37 |
Guillermo Del Toro's fascination
with monsters and creatures |
| 00:02:38 |
00:02:38 |
shine in this movie.
|
| 00:02:39 |
00:02:42 |
And some of the creatures are reminiscent
from those in Pan's Labyrinth. |
| 00:02:42 |
00:02:44 |
It's truly a feast for the eyes.
|
| 00:02:45 |
00:02:47 |
It's not the best movie of the summer,
but it's a hell of a lot of fun |
| 00:02:48 |
00:02:51 |
and the action scenes are truly great
due to some great imagination used in them. |
| 00:02:51 |
00:02:54 |
I totally recommend Hellboy 2,
wether you've seen the first one or not. |
| 00:02:55 |
00:02:57 |
It's one great time at the movies.
|
| 00:03:01 |
00:03:03 |
"I wouldn't do that if i were you."
|
| 00:03:12 |
00:03:13 |
"Somebody help!"
|
| 00:03:14 |
00:03:15 |
"They're afraid of me."
|
| 00:03:16 |
00:03:18 |
"You have more in common with us than with them,
demon." |
| 00:03:18 |
00:03:19 |
"Excuse me?"
|
| 00:03:20 |
00:03:21 |
"Make the choice."
|
| 00:03:25 |
00:03:27 |
"You woke up the baby!"
|
